Q: What information do I need for us to get started? I'm glad you asked...

Writer: Laura SchaeferLaura Schaefer

You may be wondering what information I are looking to gather during our first discovery call.

In addition to finding out what we may have in common and if it is enjoyable to have a conversation, there are also some set things I need to know pretty much right away. Feel free to include this information when you email me. Thank you!

1. Do you have a working title?

2. Genre? (Personal development/Business book/Memoir/Self-Improvement/Fiction?)

3. Project objective? (Will you be indie/self-publishing, looking for a traditional book deal, or hoping for guidance on this question?)

4. Book details? (I'm looking for possible chapter topics or other high-level information.)

5. Target market? (Who will we be writing to/for?)

6. Word count/Page count? (Most standard nonfiction books are around 50k-75k words)

7. Would I just be interviewing you for content, or multiple individuals? Who?

8. Project timeline? (When would you like your book to be completed?)

9. Project budget? (Your overall budget can help me steer you toward the best publishing solution and see if you can comfortably afford my fee.)
